On this episode of 1K Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) heads to Manhattan to help Reese add some personality to her minimalist bedroom, with a budget of $1,000 and just one day to complete the makeover. Reese wants to make her bedroom more cozy and welcoming, while also reflecting her personality. Fortunately for Reese, Will has plenty to work with. The spacious room can accommodate more furniture, and flair, than it currently does, and its street-facing windows flood the space with light!

Will starts by painting the walls. He chooses a cheerful lilac color that immediately makes the room feel brighter and friendlier. To keep the room extra light and airy, Will doesn’t paint the walls all the way up to the ceiling. Instead, he leaves the top third white, noting that this helps the room feel brighter.

Next, Will selects a beige platform bed, which he places in the center of the room. Immediately, the upholstered bed gives the room a more sophisticated feel. Will adds white sheets and pillows to the bed, keeping with Reese’s minimalist aesthetic.

Will also adds a wall mirror and a mirrored vanity table, which will allow Reese to get dressed and apply her makeup in style. He adds personality to the space with candles, a flower vase, a large poster of Audrey Hepburn, and an area rug decorated with wildflowers.

Then, Will selects his lighting. He notes that, when choosing lighting sources for a room, it’s best to have high and low options. He recommends having at least 3 different light sources, and purchases a floor lamp, ceiling light, and table lamp for Reese’s room.

When Reese sees the finished room for the first time, she is overjoyed by the stunning makeover. She loves that Will has replaced her black curtains with beige drapes that let in more light, and is particularly excited about the giant Audrey Hepburn photo that hangs above her bed. She also notes that the rug Will has chosen ties the whole room together. Reese is so excited about her room makeover, that she gives Will a big hug!
