·2 min read

Canada is celebrating 155 years since Confederation in 2022 and, after being unable to celebrate for the last two years, there are plenty of activities planned throughout Drumheller on Canada Day.

Start the day off with the Kinsmen Pancake Breakfast between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Value Drug Mart.

The Uncover Wonder parade will start at 10 a.m. Participants and parade watchers alike should be prepared for any weather, and make sure to bring sunscreen and a hat.

Registered parade participants are asked to begin lining up at the staging area along Riverside Drive between 9 Street and 17 Street beginning at 9 a.m. The parade route can be viewed at drumhellerparade.org/parade-route.html

After the parade there are plenty of options for those looking to grab some lunch-from a food truck alley at the World’s Largest Dinosaur, the Darryl Jacques Memorial Beef on a Bun at Freson Bros. from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and a Smokie on a Bun BBQ at Westview Co-op in support of the Greentree School breakfast program between 12 noon and 2:30 p.m.

At 2 p.m. Deputy Mayor Crystal Sereda will give opening remarks at the Entertainment Stage Area at the Visitor’s Centre, followed by the cutting of the cake at 2:15 p.m. There will also be the Drumheller Dragons Beer Gardens between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. at the Entertainment Stage Area.

Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. enjoy an all-ages inflatable fun and balloon artists at the Badlands Community Facility (BCF), a Toonie Swim at the Drumheller Aquaplex, and keep an eye out for Lothar the Magician and caricature artists roaming around. There will also be various artists playing at the Entertainment Stage throughout the afternoon and evening.

To wrap up the evening, watch the Canada Day fireworks from Rotary Park starting at 11 p.m.
