Drone Footage Shows Destructive Path of La Palma Lava

Drone footage posted on December 4 shows the destructive path of the latest lava flows from the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma.

The Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan) reported lava was oozing from a new fissure that day.

By December 3, lava flows had extended to over 1,180 hectares (roughly 4.55 square miles) on the island, according to the European Union’s Copernicus satellite program. Using satellite imagery, Copernicus said 2,771 buildings had been destroyed since the volcano began erupting on September 19. Credit: IGME via Storyful
