Founded by Rachel Borghard, Dooz (@dooznyc) is an astrology-themed fashion brand that lets you wear your star sign on your sleeve—literally!

Dooz was born out of Rachel’s love of creative expression. She tells In The Know, “I have always had a passion for art and design and I knew I wanted to do something in a creative field one day. I just didn’t know it would necessarily be starting my own business!”

Rachel didn’t initially start out to found an astrology-themed brand. She just knew she wanted to create unique clothing that would help people connect with one another. “Fashion is a really hard industry to break into. It’s really hard to be original in this industry,” she tells In The Know. “I just thought, ‘What’s a unique perspective on showing your personality?’”

After a lot of brainstorming, Rachel settled on astrology as a theme for her brand. She explains, “Everyone knows what their zodiac sign is, and that’s something that, number one, is a conversation starter. It’s a way to connect with people, and it’s also a way to connect with yourself.”

Now, Rachel designs a range of astrology-themed clothing and accessories, all of which are produced in Los Angeles. She tells In The Know that it was important to her to manufacture her products in the United States, as a way to support local business and ensure quality control. “By manufacturing over here, I get to support other small businesses, I get to work very hands-on with my manufacturers,” she explains.

Dooz products include handbags, accessories, and clothing, all designed for the individual zodiac signs. One of Dooz’s most popular products is a leather handbag with an adjustable strap called the Céleste Bag. “The Celeste Bag is very special,” she tells In The Know. “This is handmade in Los Angeles out of Italian lambskin. It has the zodiac signs embossed on the back of each one.”

When it comes to Dooz’s future, Rachel believes the sky’s the limit. “I’m looking to always expand into even more categories. I currently do clothing and accessories. I just started doing a little bit of jewelry,” she explains. “Lots of new stuff on the horizon.”
