Calling all ogre enthusiasts, Shrek's home is available for booking on Oct. 13
This Halloween, Donkey has you covered!
Donkey will be house-sitting for his trusty companion, and has decided to open up the Swamp doors for an exclusive two-night swamp stay for up to three friends from Oct. 27-29, 2023.
The mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered oasis that is Shrek’s Swamp is nestled in the hills of the Scottish Highlands.
This charming and cozy refuge is the perfect secluded spot to enjoy a brisk autumn day and starry nights to hibernate like a true ogre would. The live-in tree stump features a studio layout with two beds and one bathroom.

Although there are signs labeled “Danger,” “Stay Out,” and “Beware Ogre” that lead up to the Swamp house, think of it as Shrek’s way of welcoming you home.
The property is a perfectly snug spot to escape from village life and embrace the beauty of nature.
“I’m absolutely delighted to invite you in for a fairytale stay,” Donkey said in a description of the listing posted to Airbnb.
While vacationing in the Swamp, guests will have the chance to stay up late, swap stories, and eat like an ogre — because in the morning, Donkey’s making waffles!
This will be the first time fans are welcomed into Shrek’s humble abode and in true ogre fashion, the toilet, sink and shower facilities will be located off-site, approximately 20 meters away from Shrek’s Swamp.
“Shrek’s Swamp is lovely. Just beautiful. The perfect place to entertain guests,” Donkey said. “You know what I like about it? Everything. The overgrown landscaping, the modest interiors, the nice boulders, all of it. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.”
It’s important to keep in mind that staying at Shrek’s Swamp isn’t a contest! Any fan of the ogre can stay for just £0 a night — a nod to the priceless refuge he has provided fairytale creatures of all kinds!
However, those interested will have to abide by a few simple rules.
Guests at Shrek’s Swamp must have an active Airbnb profile with a good track record on the platform, own a government-issued ID, and be at least 5 years of age, in addition to several other terms and conditions.
Since this isn’t a contest, guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Scotland.
To honor good childhood memories that last a lifetime, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to HopScotch Children’s Charity, which provides some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children with respite breaks through nurturing and dynamic holiday trips.
Onion and ogre enthusiasts can request to book Shrek’s Swamp beginning Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. BST at airbnb.com/shrek.
Shrek’s Swamp isn’t the only mega movie mansion that’s been up for grabs as of late.
Earlier this year, Airbnb reopened the doors to the Barbie Dream House in Malibu ahead of the iconic doll’s July 21 feature film release!
In stark contrast to the ogre’s unique stay, visitors of Barbie’s multilevel pink home enjoyed a disco dance floor, a roller rink, a gym, a bar and grill, and an infinity pool (adorned with floats that spell out Ken’s name, of course).
However, like Shrek’s Swamp, those staying at the Malibu mansion were also able to do so at no cost to them “because Ken couldn’t figure out how to put a price on Barbie’s Malibu Dream House — after all, Ken’s thing is beach, not math!”
