'Doctor Strange 2,' 'Loki' Writer Michael Waldron to Reportedly Pen Script of 'Avengers: Secret Wars'

Michael Waldron, the writer behind the success of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki, is supposedly penning the script for another Marvel project — Avengers: Secret Wars.

According to sources, several writers were up for the position but Waldron was believed to be the frontrunner as he has brought enviable success to the studio in the past year with Loki, a project in which he also served as executive producer and showrunner and is one of the very Marvel shows that actually received a second season. The screenwriter is also set to the pen the upcoming and still-untitled Star Wars film, although it remains unclear if that project is still in development.

The news arrives shortly after Jeff Loveness from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was announced as the writer of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, working alongside Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, who will direct the film. Reports add that Secret Wars will have its own director, however the name is yet to be revealed.

Avengers: Secret Wars is set to premiere November 8, 2025.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix has shared a first look at the Berlin spinoff of Money Heist.
