The acclaimed documentary series from Omri Assenheim concerns the controversial Israeli-U.S. spy scandal that rocked both nations, leading to the most significant upheaval in the history of American-Israeli government relations and coming as relations between the pair are under the microscope due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Jonathan Pollard, a young American Jew with ambitions to save the Jewish State, was convicted of selling closely guarded U.S. secrets and highly classified intelligence material to numerous foreign countries in 1985. He admitted in the ensuing investigation that one of the recipient countries was America’s close ally, Israel, and the doc outlines the evolution of the scandal using rare archival materials and first-time interviews with former American FBI agents, Israeli intelligence members and other high-ranking government officials.

“Jonathan Pollard is one of the most divisive figures in the history of Israeli/American relations and Omri Assenheim’s tremendous documentary series uncovers what actually took place at the highest levels of government for both nations through revealing, exclusive interviews and rare archival footage,” said ChaiFlicks Co-Founder Neil Friedman. “With everything that has transpired since October 7, we believe this powerful documentary series has taken on even more relevance for our subscribers across the globe.”

Assenheim said: “In these tough times Israel is going through, which emphasizes once again the crucial Israeli-American relationship, our series touches on the most sensitive elements of those sensitive ties. In my opinion, it is a must-watch series for every American Jew.”

Assenheim is one of Israel’s most prolific documentary filmmakers. He has worked for UVDA – the weekly investigative and documentary program on Israeli TV – for nearly two decades.

The Pollard buy comes on the heels of several additional ChaiFlicks acquisitions including its recent deal for all three seasons of global hit Shtisel and the studio’s award-winning drama series Fire Dance.

Launched in 2020, ChaiFlicks is now available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
