Let’s face it: people haven’t maintained perfect hygiene during the pandemic. Daily showers? Maybe not part of your routine anymore. Forgetting to brush your teeth before logging on to work? It’s happened to the best of us. Fortunately, Mouth Off Gum, which is low-key not a gum at all, will come in clutch on days when you slip with your oral hygiene.

Life happens. Sometimes you’re running late and skip the teeth brushing step in your morning routine. During normal times, this wouldn’t be a huge deal, but wearing a face masks means you’re the person smelling your own bad breath. That’s where Mouth Off Gum comes in. It’s different than the gum that you’re used to in that it dissolves in 60 seconds. Plus, it eliminates bad breath for up to four hours.

The gum itself comes in a pack of two with a sheet of 10 pieces per pack. Just pop one in and it’s gone in 60 seconds, leaving you with a minty fresh feeling in your mouth. Not to mention, the gum is plant-based, offering vegans and those with gluten allergies a sugar-free option that actually eliminates your bad breath. And that’s coming from my first-hand experience.

The Real Deal With Mouth Off Gum

I will be the first to admit that I wasn’t perfect at the beginning of quarantine. When the days fade into each other, it’s easy to miss a day of brushing. The brand sent me two packs of gum to try for myself in the Refreshing Peppermint flavor.

When I first tried to bite into it, the gum was a little stiff. My wisdom teeth are still coming in, so I also chalk my discomfort up to that. Like the packaging says though, this gum doesn’t stay intact for long. It definitely dissolved in my mouth in less than a minute, which I like because chewing on hard gum with new wisdom teeth isn’t the move. I put on a mask even after having a cup of coffee and a croissant, and there was no trace of bad breath. I couldn’t even smell the remnants of cocoa beans from the coffee.

The Mouth Off Gum honestly reminds me of the mints I’d swipe from my favorite Greek diner as a kid. Though, unlike those countertop treats, the minty freshness of Mouth Off remains long after it has dissolved. This is easily the kind of thing you want to pull out of your back pocket when someone you know asks “Does anyone have gum?”

These days, gum isn’t so much of a mindless activity as it is a quick fix for bad breath removal. And if you’re wearing a mask for hours at a time, you definitely want your own breath to be bearable.
