Diego Luna Lives, Loves the 'Star Wars' Life in Explosive New 'Rogue One' Clip

Back during Star Wars Celebration Europe in July, an enthusiastic Diego Luna gave us a quick dossier on his Rogue One character. “My character is Capt. [Cassian] Andor and he works for the Rebellion in intelligence. He’s in charge of a very important mission, and he has to go on this mission with Jyn Erso. It’s quite an interesting man. He has lots of secrets. And he’s been with the Rebellion for all of his life, and all he knows is fighting for this cause, for freedom. I really admire the guy.”

The admiration continues to shine through in a new Cassian-centric featurette released Monday (watch above) titled “Living in Star Wars.” (The videos are arriving at lightspeed with the movie launch just over two weeks away, on Dec. 16.)

“It’s like I’ve been preparing my whole life for this”, Luna says at the outset, proclaiming his fandom. We then see footage alternating between making-of snippets and images from the final cut. Among them:

—Luna and Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso preparing to embark on the film’s central mission to steal the Death Star plans from the X-wing hangar on Yavin 4, painstakingly recreated from A New Hope

—Jyn and Cassian in disguise infiltrating an Imperial base with Cassian’s droid compadre, K-2SO

—On location with Alan Tudyk (who provides K-2SO’s mo-cap and voice) on a “deserted island” in the Maldives, which provides the setting for the planet Scarif, site of a gritty Rebel-Imperial skirmish

“It’s a true adventure,” says Luna towards the end of the clip. “I’m here enjoying the ride in a galaxy far, far away.”
