Yahoo Movies Dexter finale: Everything we know about the new limited series reboot

Showtime is doing a Dexter finale do-over with original series star Michael C. Hall in an upcoming limited series that promises to give fans a more satisfying conclusion than the oft-slammed eighth season, which aired in 2013.
Here's everything we know so far about the reboot:
Who's in it?
Hall, of course, reprising his mesmerizing role as the serial killer avenger Dexter Morgan, who was last seen — and it still feels weird to write this — apparently working as a lumberjack in Oregon, having exiled himself after the death of his sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter). There's also Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption) as the season's requisite big bad. And there will be new characters played by Julia Jones (The Twilight Saga), Alano Miller (Jane the Virgin), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird). No word yet on whether familiar faces from the original cast will return beyond Hall.
Who's making it?
Clyde Phillips, the original showrunner for seasons 1-4, is returning to write the limited series. Phillips presided over what critics consider the show's best year (the one with John Lithgow's "Trinity Killer") and then departed the show, and we all know what happened after that.
What's it about?
The limited series will pick up roughly a decade after the original finale. Phillips has made it clear that everything we've previously seen really happened (so, yes, Deb is still dead… but could she come back as Ghost Deb?). Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter, "We're not going to betray the audience and say 'that was all a dream,' or whatever it is… [but] this is an opportunity to make that right." While Hall recently told The Daily Beast, "Let's be real: people found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there's always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling. I include myself in the group of people that wondered, 'What the hell happened to that guy?' So I'm excited to step back into it." The largest piece of unmined dramatic territory left over from the original series was that Dexter's colleagues at the Miami P.D. never learned the truth about him, so Dex's dark secret being outed, to some degree, seems likely.
Where will it film?
The show's production is reportedly coming to West Franklin County, Mass., which isn't where one might expect. Perhaps it's to pick up Dex in a rural location similar to the one where we last saw him. But Phillips has also teased that the show's overall location is "much different" from Miami.
When will it air?
The 10-episode limited series is planned for release this fall.
