Britney Spears, Sam Asghari reveal they lost 'miracle baby': 'It's hard, but we are not alone'

Britney Spears has suffered a miscarriage a month after announcing her pregnancy.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," Spears wrote on Instagram Saturday. "This is a devastating time for any parent."

In April, the pop star shared she was pregnant with her third child on Instagram writing that she "got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby."

In her statement, Spears said that perhaps she and Sam Ashgari "should've waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news."

She continued: "Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support."

Spears ended the statement by requesting privacy during this time.

Britney Spears reveals: she's pregnant with third child, calls fiancé Sam Asghari 'husband'

On Monday, Asghari thanked fans in an Instagram Story for respecting the couple's privacy and said the couple "will be expanding our family soon."

"We have felt your support," he wrote. "We are taking things positively and moving forward with our future. It's hard, but we are not alone. Thank you for respecting our privacy."

When first announcing her pregnancy in April, Spears explained she was confused about what was going on with her body when she "lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back."

"I thought 'Geez … what happened to my stomach ???' " she wrote, noting Asghari, whom she's referred to as her "husband" in recent Instagram posts, told her she was "food pregnant."

Spears said four days after taking the pregnancy test, "I got a little more food pregnant 🤰🏼🙈🙈🙈 It’s growing!"

Asghari shared the exciting news on Instagram Monday, writing: "Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect," alongside a sketch of two lions with their cub.

"Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don’t take lightly," he continued in the caption. "It is the most important job i will ever do."
