Denise Welch is cutting back on work this year so she doesn’t end up in an “early grave”.

The ‘Loose Women’ presenter, 65, added she now turns down most job offers because she prefers to be tanning on a sun-lounger.

She told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m not scared of ageing but I am obviously aware I’m 14 years older than my husband Lincoln (Townley.)

“I’ve seen too many people work themselves into an early grave to do that myself.

“Why would I work myself to death when I can afford to go on holiday?

“I just want to enjoy our life together and take as many holidays as we can.”

Denise, whose TV roles have included parts in ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Waterloo Road’ and ‘Hollyoaks’, added: “I no longer accept everything that I am offered. I’m no longer scared to turn things down.

“I am in a fortunate position where I can now be choosy, and not everyone can.

“I don’t know if it will last – I may not be in that position again. Who knows?

“So I am just determined to make the most of life now. I am grateful to be blessed with a very happy, loving marriage.”

Denise added despite her love of breaks, she and her husband are a “bit common” when it comes to their getaways.

She said: “I’m not that cultural or bothered about being a tourist – a good holiday to me is being laid next to Lincoln on a sun-lounger by the pool. I don’t need anything fancy.”

Denise also stressed she had no plans to leave ‘Loose Women’, saying: “We all get on despite people trying to say we are always fighting, which we aren’t.

“I have been on the show for 22 years and never once had a fall out with anyone.”
