New deli and popular local bakery announced for Devine Street development in Columbia
New retail is headed to one of Columbia’s key shopping and dining districts.
Developers Estates & Companies announced in a Tuesday news release that bagel sandwich company Sully’s Steamers and bakery Ally & Eloise Bakeshop will be part of a new project called The Green at 2835 Devine St. It will be right in front of the Devine District apartments that also were developed by Estates & Companies.
The spot on Devine will be the first Midlands location of Sully’s Steamers. That company has long had a spot on East Washington Street in bustling downtown Greenville, and it also has locations in Clemson and in Brevard, N.C. Southern Way Catering’s Michael and Brittany Stuckey are opening the Devine Street Sully’s.
“We had the pleasure of eating at Sully’s downtown Greenville location a few years ago, and fell in love with the food and the concept,” Michael Stuckey said in the release.
Sully’s uses a special process to make its sandwiches.
“At Sully’s, we steam our famous bagel sandwiches until they’re hot, melty and delicious,” Sully’s says on its website. “Sandwiches stuffed with fresh, flavorful ingredients that are placed in our steamer until the bagel gets warm and soft and the ingredients achieve the peak of tastiness. Now, we’re not a bagel shop. We’re a sandwich shop that just makes bagel sandwiches to order.”
Meanwhile, the location in The Green on Devine will mark the third store in the Columbia area for Ally & Eloise. The bakery also has spots in the Arcade Building on Main Street and at 5209 Forest Drive. The shop makes macarons, cakes and lots of other treats.
“All of the shops and restaurants on Devine Street encompass everything we love about local businesses in Columbia,” Ally and Eloise owner Aleka Selig said in a statement. “We can’t wait to add to that energy and give people a beautiful space where they can indulge and enjoy our delicious desserts.”
Estates & Companies’ Matt Mundy said Devine Street is a perfect spot for the retail offerings coming in The Green.
“Devine Street is Columbia’s premiere boutique commercial district as it is nestled between three of Columbia’s oldest residential neighborhoods and hosts a unique blend of shopping, dining, office and living opportunities,” Mundy said in a statement. “It’s an honor to be able to call this community home while also bringing more locally owned businesses to continue its legacy.”
No opening dates or construction timelines were included in Tuesday’s release.
