Deleted Ghostbusters Dance Sequence Cost Sony Over a MILLION Dollars

A deleted sequence from ‘Ghosbusters’ that featured Chris Hemsworth dancing and cost at least $1 million to shoot over the course of two days was ultimately cut from the final edit of the reboot.

A quick little warning for those of you that haven’t seen ‘Ghostbusters’, the following article discusses the ending of the film. So you should probably proceed with caution.

The Hollywood Reporter have alleged that the scene in question saw Hemsworth, who at this point in the film has been possessed by the evil demon Rowan, leading a gathered mass of NYPD officers and camouflaged soldiers that he had control of in a choreographed dance to The Bee Gees’ “You Should Be Dancing” in Times Square.

Not only did it cost Sony and Village Roadshow seven figures to shoot the sequence, but it also took two full days of filming to get it right, which doesn’t include rehearsal time, too.

A Sony representative was quick to deny the amount rumoured, telling the publication, “You should check your source, the cost is absolutely wrong, completely overinflated.”

But they didn’t deny that after mixed audience reactions to several test screenings of the scene, Paul Feig made “the biggest decision” of his professional life and sliced it out of the film.

Instead, it now plays in the background as the credits roll on by. It comes shortly after another deleted scene was squeezed into the film, which, as the Ghostbusters toured their new headquarters at Hook & Ladder 8, saw Sigourney Weaver debut as Rebecca Gorin, the mentor to Kate McKinnon’s Jillian Holtzmann.

‘Ghostbusters’ is now in cinemas across the UK.
