Six decades’ worth of Bond girls were in attendance from Seymour and Harris to Joanna Lumley and Maryam d'Abo, from ‘The Living Daylights’.

It was even held at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire, which has featured in the Bond movies 'Goldfinger’ (the infamous golf game between Sean Connery’s Bond and Gert Frobe’s Goldfinger) and 'Tomorrow Never Dies’.

Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson also attended the event, but according to reports were both tight-lipped on plans for a replacement for current 007 Daniel Craig.

Moore, who played Bond the most times – seven in all – from 1973 to 1985, gave his two cents, however, telling the Daily Mail it will have to be 'anybody who is athletic - Daniel Craig has made that so. He is still Bond’.

Also in attendance were former M Dame Judi Dench, ex-Moneypenny Samantha Bond, Colin Salmon ('Tomorrow Never Dies’, 'The World Is Not Enough’ and 'Die Another Day’), Goldie ('The World Is Not Enough’), and Caterina Murion ('Casino Royale’).

Dench, speaking about the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme, said: “It has galvanised a lot of young people into doing a lot of good things.

“My own nephew did the Duke of Edinburgh Awards - it gives people a focus, they realise 'there’s something I can do’ and it’s thrilling.”
