Deal Or No Deal is returning to screens after seven years with Stephen Mulhern at the helm.

The original series was presented by Noel Edmonds on Channel 4 from 2005 to 2016 but now the show will be revived on ITV.

The beloved gameshow saw contestants choosing one of 22 boxes, each containing a cash amount between 1p to £250,000, in a bid to win as much money as possible by gambling or having a sizeable amount of cash inside their chosen box.

However, it was the game’s Banker who upped the ante, offering a significant cash sum for the contestant’s box regardless of what is inside in a bid to scupper their chances of winning the jackpot, £250,000.

Following closely to the original format, the new series will see “a brand-new setting with brand-new prize boxes and a new batch of contestants”.

The show isn’t just moving broadcaster but is also getting a new host in the form of Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern.

Speaking about helming the reboot, the 45-year-old said he is “beyond excited to be hosting” having been a “huge fan of the show”.

He said “Wow, what an opportunity, I’m beyond excited to be hosting the brand-new series. I’ve always been such a huge fan of the show – so much so, I’ve been practising at home with small cereal boxes!

“It looks so simple but it’s an incredibly compelling game for both those playing and the viewers watching at home.

“It’s one of the greatest shows of all time and to be the new host is an honour. I can’t wait to get started.”

Ahead of the show’s return, ITV’s head of entertainment commissioning Katie Rawcliffe said: “Deal or No Deal is such an iconic format, and we are delighted that it will be joining the ITV family.

“Stephen’s infectious warmth and wit mixed with his natural rapport with members of the public is the perfect combination for this much-loved TV series.”
