Yahoo Movies Deadpool & Wolverine beats Joker to set a huge new box-office record
Deadpool & Wolverine has made history as it reaches another major box-office milestone.
Opening with a staggering $444 million globally, Deadpool & Wolverine quickly outperformed its predecessors, becoming the biggest Deadpool film in its second weekend.
Now, according to The Walt Disney Company, the Marvel blockbuster has surpassed Joker as the highest-grossing R-rated film ever, earning $1,085.6 billion worldwide in just 23 days.

The third Deadpool film sees Ryan Reynolds reprise his titular role as he teams up with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Taking place six years after the events of Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson (Reynolds) has settled into a normal life as a car salesperson. But when he's faced with an existential crisis, he turns to Wolverine for help.
Along with Pixar's Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine has helped Disney secure the top two box-office spots of the year.
Speaking about integrating Deadpool into Disney, MCU boss Kevin Feige explained that the secret was to "let Deadpool be Deadpool".

"People thought when Disney bought Marvel, 'They're going to shave off the hard edges. They're going to make it all G-rated,'" Feige said. "Of course, that was never the intention."
Digital Spy's review of Deadpool & Wolverine noted: "If you were worried that Deadpool has been Disney-fied, he has not. This is still the foul-mouthed, violent anti-hero of the first two movies, complete with copious puerile dick jokes, meta gags and fourth-wall-breaking as he slices and dices victims.
"But is it any good? Mostly. Deadpool & Wolverine is terrific entertainment, two hours of fan service wrapped up as a summer blockbuster. It's not perfect and might not stand up to repeat viewings, but you won't care in the moment."
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in cinemas.
