Deadly Storms Cause Destruction in Northern Italy

Dangerous thunderstorms brought heavy rain, hail, and strong winds that killed at least two people and caused serious damage in Tuscany, Italy, on August 18, according to Vigili del Fuoco, Italy’s fire and rescue service.

The Italian Civil Protection Department issued severe weather alerts for most of the country in response to Thursday’s thunderstorm.

Local news reports said two people were killed by falling trees during the storm in Tuscany.

Vigili del Fuoco shared photos and videos, which they said were taken on Thursday, showing firefighters working to clean up the destruction caused by the storm in Tuscany.
