Dave Chappelle special, this 'SNL' sketch were among YouTube's top-trending videos of 2020

YouTube's list of top-trending videos of 2020 is here – and some entertainment highlights earned a spot.

Topping off the list is Dave Chappelle's Netflix special. The video, titled "8:46 - Dave Chappelle," has amassed more than 29 million views since it was published on the video platform on June 11, 2020.

The comedian took a serious tone in the segment, opening up about the death of George Floyd in police custody. The title of the set, which aired on Netflix's YouTube comedy hub, "Netflix Is A Joke," for free viewing on June 11, 2020, is a reference to Floyd's death, in which former police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

In a blog post shared Tuesday, YouTube's Head of Culture & Trends Kevin Allocca spoke to the emotional appeal that Chappelle's special had.

"When protests against racial injustice swept the nation, Dave Chappelle channeled his thoughts into an impromptu, socially-distanced show that captured the emotions felt by many," Allocca writes.

At No. 3 on the list is a clip from "Saturday Night Live." The video, titled "First Debate Cold Open - SNL," was published on the platform on Oct. 4, 2020 and has garnered nearly 30 million views.

The opening sketch poked fun at President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden's first debate. Viewers watched Chris Wallace (Beck Bennett) moderate the first presidential debate between Trump (Alec Baldwin) and Biden (Jim Carrey).

"Did you take the COVID test you promised to take in advance?" asked Bennett's Wallace.

"Absolutely, scouts honor," said Baldwin's Trump with his fingers crossed. "The China virus is a hoax – and that will probably come back to haunt me later this week."

Later, Carrey's Biden said, "Imagine if science and karma could somehow team up to send us a message how dangerous this virus could be. I'm not saying I want it to happen, but just imagine it did."
