Darius Campbell Is Now A Hollywood Producer Behind New Daniel Radcliffe Movie

Whatever you thought of Darius Campbell’s baffling rendition of Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time’ when he was a contestant on ITV talent show ‘Popstars’ back in 2001, you have to admire his ambition.

It’s emerged that Campbell has now moved into the movie business.

His first project is ‘Imperium’, the new movie starring Daniel Radcliffe as an FBI agent who goes undercover in a neo-nazi group.

36-year-old Campbell, who previously went by Darius Danesh but later took his mother’s maiden name, is credited as co-executive producer on the film, and plans to forge ahead in movie producing as a career.

“What really interests me is how you get from one idea in one person’s head to develop something that involves hundreds of people to make and then hopefully touches the lives of thousands or millions of people,” he told the Evening Standard.

He went on to call Radcliffe ‘one of the most underrated British actors’.

“That is partly down to Harry Potter, he has had to deal with so much rubbish because of it but, on the other hand, it has allowed him to do more, make more mistakes, and make more great decisions than most other actors would have done by that age, and it shows in his performances,” he added.

Campbell followed his stint in the music business – during which he released two albums – by writing a book about his experiences, and then moving into musical theatre in the West End, landing a series of high-profile roles.

Recently he’s played Nick Arnstein in ‘Funny Girl’ opposite Sheridan Smith, as well as lead parts in ‘Chicago’, ‘Guys and Dolls’ and in Sir Trevor Nunn’s musical adaptation of ‘Gone With The Wind’.

Campbell says that he has two more film projects planned for next year.

“For me it is all part of the same thing, whether singing, acting or producing,” he said.
