Dante Reno, class of 2024 quarterback and 4-star recruit, commits to South Carolina

South Carolina has landed a quarterback for the future.

Four-star Class of 2024 signal-caller Dante Reno announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on Saturday evening over a final group that included Kentucky, N.C. State, Purdue, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Reno, a rising junior, is rated the No. 283 player and No. 18 quarterback in the class, per the 247Sports Composite that factors in all network rankings. He is the first player to commit to South Carolina in the 2024 cycle.

The son of Yale head coach Tony Reno, Dante played his sophomore season at Connecticut boarding school Loomis Chafee after spending his freshman campaign at Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

Reno visited South Carolina twice in the spring and then two more times in June. He becomes the latest addition to an increasingly deep Gamecocks quarterback room.

Former Oklahoma signal-caller Spencer Rattler became the headliner of the group when he announced his transfer to South Carolina in December, though he’s almost certainly going to turn professional by the time Reno arrives on campus.

Third-year signal-caller Luke Doty and redshirt freshman Colten Gauthier are both back in the fold for South Carolina in 2022 behind Rattler.

The Gamecocks added a pair of quarterbacks in their 2022 recruiting class in four-star Alabama native Tanner Bailey and three-star Delaware product Braden Davis.
