Daniel Craig talks James Bond future: ‘I would miss it terribly’

It’s hard to know exactly what’s going on with Daniel Craig’s future as James Bond. Ever since the release of ‘Spectre’ it’s been widely assumed that Daniel Craig wouldn’t be returning as the world’s most famous spy.

That’s something that the actor himself has insisted, too, as he told Time Out magazine while promoting Spectre that he would “rather break this glass and slash my wrists” than reprise the role. But, clearly, Craig has calmed down regarding his possible return as Bond.

In fact, according to Birth Movies Death, during a wide-ranging discussion at the New York Film Festival on Friday Craig defended the above quote comparing it to asking a marathon runner whether they’d ever run another marathon 20 feet from the finishing line, to which he insisted the answer would always be no.

But this then provoked Craig to declare, “The things I get to do on a Bond movie and the type of work it is there is no other job like it … and if I were to stop doing it I would miss it terribly.”

Just to underline how much his attitude has changed, Daniel Craig then insisted that the role is “one of the most thrilling things you can do as an actor.”

But when pushed for a definitive answer on his Bond future, Craig responded to the question of, “Where does that stand?” with “It doesn’t … there’s no conversation going on, and genuinely because everybody’s a bit tired.”

However, Craig, who also admitted that the recent rumours he’d been offered $150 million for two more Bond films were completely untrue, gave his biggest indication yet that he’d be tempted to return as he declared, “I love this job, I get a massive kick out of it. And if I can keep getting a kick out it, I will.”

But after ‘Spectre’ failed to match up to ‘Skyfall’s’ reviews it still remains to be seen if Bond fans want Daniel Craig to return. Especially since a certain Tom Hiddelston is constantly being linked with replacing him.
