Dan Aykroyd Responds To Ghostbusters’ Star Leslie Jones’ Racist Twitter Abuse

No matter what you think of the ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot, or even Leslie Jones’ performance in it, you have to admit that the vile, hateful racist and misogynistic abuse that the actress has received over the last few days has truly been depressing.

The vitriol became so rampant earlier this week that Jones decided to quit Twitter. Jones’ ‘Ghostbusters’ co-star Kate McKinnon and director Paul Feig have already launched to her defence, and now Dan Aykroyd has responded to the individuals that forced her off the social media website, too.

After being quizzed by Entertainment Tonight Canada about the abuse, Aykroyd at first said of Jones, “First of all, she’s a great writer, great comedians. And she comes from a real urban background where she had a lot of hardship and she’s channelling that into a great achievement and a great career.”

It was at this point that Aykroyd made his true feelings known about her critics, “These people, they’re insignificant gnats. They’re losers, they have no lives of their own, they can probably barely pay for the wifi they’re using.”

All of which sounds just about right, if even a little too nice and clean about the odious turds.

On Wednesday Twitter finally stepped in and permanently banned conservative writer Milo Yiannopoulos after he used his account, @Nero, to attack the comedian and actress.

‘Ghostbusters’ is currently in cinema across the UK.
