Dallas Stars open season Oct. 13 at Nashville

Peter DeBoer will make his debut as the new Dallas Stars coach on Oct. 13 at Nashville. The former Las Vegas coach will guide his team in its first home game at American Airlines Center on Oct. 15 against the same Predators team.

The Stars are coming off a 46-30-6 season. Their 98 points placed them in fourth place in the very competitive Central Division.

DeBoer replaces Rick Bowness who coached the Stars for three seasons. The Stars lost int he Stanley Cup final in his first year; the team lost in the first round of the playoffs last season to Calgary. He was 89-62-25 with the Stars.

This is DeBoer’s fifth NHL head coaching stop. He previously coached Florida (2008-11), New Jersey (2011-15), San Jose (2015-19) and Las Vegas (2019-22).
