Just as Audi and Porsche are bringing fast wagons stateside, Mercedes has abandoned their most interesting wagon option. Their CLS Shooting Brake debuted in Europe in 2012, but it was discontinued with the last generation of CLS back in 2018. The replacement has not yet spawned a wagon after three full years of production, and the AMG GT 4-Door that replaced the higher end CLS options has not been blessed with a fifth door option, either. If another great five-door is to come from Mercedes, the likelihood is that it will be part of an electrified or all-electric lineup of future performance cars. That last fact particularly disappointed Eduard Pogea, so he did something about it.

This is his custom Pogea Racing CLS 63, which the group calls their "last unicorn." A standard CLS 63 produces 577 horsepower; Pogea's is pumped up to 732. As a result, the already-stellar CLS 63 is capable of a GPS-verified 204 MPH. Coupled with standard AWD, that puts it in another league of performance entirely.

Of course, the CLS line is all about style, so Pogea Racing has given its CLS a fitting visual upgrade. The car is finished in a personal shade of dark gray, with glossy carbon fiber and black glossy paint replacing all chrome trim on the original car. Matte carbon accents are added in the interior, completing the performance-first look. The resulting car, which Pogea affectionately calls "Lorenzo," is a fitting tribute to the potential of an AMG shooting brake.
