Cuba Without Electricity After Hurricane Ian Hits

Hurricane Ian caused an electricity blackout in Cuba as the storm made landfall on Tuesday, September 27.

The Nation Hurricane Service warned of a life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force winds, flash floods and possible mudslides.

Union Electrica, a Cuban electricity provider, said on Tuesday evening there was no electricity in the country due to “weather effects”. The company said work was underway to restore the service overnight into Wednesday.
