Crystal Palace came back from the international break with a bump as Burnley secured their first win of the season against the Eagles.

Cheikhou Kouyate’s early mistake allowed Chris Wood in to score the Clarets’ first home goal of the season, before Sean Dyche’s men dug deep to secure all three points.

Without Wilfried Zaha, who is isolating after testing positive for coronavirus, Palace were unable to break down their hosts.

Vicente Guaita 6

Could do nothing about the opener - solid other than that and quick thinking to stifle Burnley on a couple of occasions in the second half.

Nathaniel Clyne 6

Another steady display as he works his way back to full fitness but nothing to worry Joel Ward as he nears a return.

Cheikhou Kouyate 5

Made a big mistake to gift Burnley the ball ahead of Wood’s winner, settled well enough but Palace could not make their way back after his mistake.

Scott Dann 6

Solid performance again from the 33-year-old, could do nothing about the ball deflecting off him in the build up to Wood’s goal.

Patrick van Aanholt 6

Kept Mitchell out of the side upon the youngster’s return from injury, did well enough defensively but struggled to get in behind Burnley.

Andros Townsend 5

Got into good positions down the right hand side but the end product was always a little wayward.

James McArthur 5

Reliable as every but offered far too little in terms of creativity through the middle.

Jairo Riedewald 6

Tried to get Palace moving a little quicker in midfield but passing was a little wayward and he never really had the space to get going.

Eberechi Eze 7

Tried everything to bring some spark to a dreary Palace display but can’t do it all on his own.

Jordan Ayew 5

The forward always tends to struggle when played through the middle and tonight was no different.

Michy Batshuayi 5

Worked hard but really needs to get a run of goals together from somewhere, should have acted quicker when looking to get past Pope from McNeil’s backpass.

Substitutes

Jeffrey Schlupp 5
