Jake Evans scored the winning goal with 2:15 remaining to rally the Montreal Canadiens past the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Tuesday night. Evans finished a feed from Joel Armia to break the tie with his 11th goal. Juraj Slafkovsky and Alex Newhook also scored, and Sam Montembeault stopped 33 shots to help Montreal win for the 13th time in 17 games.

South Korea's birthrate set to rise for the first time in nine years
South Korea's birthrate is set to show a rise in 2024 for the first time in nine years, following a rebound in marriages that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Asian country has recorded the world's lowest fertility rates, but the number of newborns between January 2024 and November 2024 rose 3% from a year earlier to 220,094, monthly government data showed on Wednesday. In 2023, newborns fell by 7.7%, extending declines to an eighth consecutive year and resulting in an annual fertility rate of 0.72, the lowest globally.

Microsoft is no longer OpenAI's exclusive cloud provider
Microsoft was once the exclusive provider of data center infrastructure for OpenAI to train and run its AI models. Coinciding with the announcement of Stargate, OpenAI's massive new AI infrastructure deal with SoftBank, Oracle, and others, Microsoft says it has signed a new agreement with OpenAI that gives it "right of first refusal" on new OpenAI cloud computing capacity. "OpenAI recently made a new, large Azure commitment that will continue to support all OpenAI products as well as training," Microsoft said in a blog post.

U.S. stock trading hedge funds kicked off the week with gross leverage levels in their highest range since 2010, a note from Morgan Stanley's prime brokerage seen by Reuters showed. Gross leverage reflects how much a hedge fund has increased its market positioning.
