Yahoo Movies Cruel Summer boss says fans will get "all the answers" to season 1 mystery

Cruel Summer showrunner Tia Napolitano has promised that viewers will get "all the answers" about the series' big mystery by the end of season one.
The Freeform series has delivered plenty of twists and turns already, especially during its two-episode premiere last month (but more on that later).
The show follows a disappearance in a Texas community over a series of successive summers in the 1990s, jumping between three time periods.

Speaking to TV Line, Napolitano admitted that viewers can often be left frustrated by mystery shows but promises that Cruel Summer is worth the investment.
"We knew we had to do this right. We knew we had to deliver the actual truth," she said. "We couldn’t fake the audience out. We couldn’t skip over it and just jump forward to a different mystery and brush past it. We knew we had to drill down and uncover the actual truth, and that’s hard.
"You know there’s a reason a lot of shows are unsatisfying at the end, because it’s very hard to untie that knot that you’ve gotten yourself into. And we were just very thoughtful and very deliberate about it, and I hope we deliver."
The series' two-episode premiere revealed that schoolgirl Kate Wallis was abducted by the school's vice principal Martin Harris, played by Parks and Recreation actor Blake Lee.
And while the reveal that Harris wasn't the nice, pillar of the community he pretended to be was a huge shock, Lee has said there are still "a lot of things unanswered".
"But that will start to be revealed throughout the season," he said last month in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "A lot of it is surprising, so what people think of who Martin is quickly turns, and then where you think that relationship is and who he is to Kate, everything is a constant shock."
