A new ski resort is opening in Snowbasin, Utah, according to a release by Club Med, a French travel and tourism operator specializing in all-inclusive holidays.

The new resort is slated to open December 2024, and it'll be the brand's first new resort in the U.S. in more than 20 years, according to Club Med.

"Looking ahead, we are delighted to bring Snowbasin their very first lodging and introduce the spectacular region to travelers from all over the world," said Henri Giscard D’Estaing, president and CEO of Club Med Québec.

Utah is one of the most popular ski destinations in the world and hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. The resort will be located 35 miles from Salt Lake City, less than an hour from the Salt Lake City airport.

What will the resort be like? Pretty luxurious, from the sound of it.

This five-star resort will have ski-in/ski-out access to surrounding slopes and about 320 rooms.

The suites will combine American and French styles as well as integrate elements from Utah in its architectural design. Accommodations will include two-bedroom deluxe rooms, family suites and private penthouse suites.

There will also be children’s clubs for kids from 4 months to 17 years old, and all-day dining will be available at the resort’s restaurants and lounges. Guests will also be able to sign up for group ski and snowboard lessons and enjoy a heated swimming pool during the ski season.

During the warmer months, they can explore more than 3,000 acres of surrounding mountains and valleys through guided activities like hiking programs, mountain biking and circus activities hosted by Club Med.

Guests can also explore Utah’s natural beauty with excursions to its several national parks as well as guided visits to local galleries and saloons in nearby towns.

The Snowbasin region has over 300 days of sunshine per year and one of the highest vertical drops in North America, according to Club Med. The project is expected to bring an estimated 400 jobs to the local economy and draw in international clientele, according to Club Med, which is headquartered in Paris.
