Just before halftime, Clemson regains the lead on a two-yard run from Kobe Pace. The drive included a trick play on fourth down with punter Will Spiers completing a 17-yard pass to Davis Allen to keep the drive going with less than two minutes left in the half.

Six plays later, Justyn Ross then corraled in a 15-yard dart from Uiagalelei to set up Pace’s score nine seconds before the midpoint, putting Clemson back in front. The Tigers will also get the ball to start the second half. SCORE: Clemson 14, Syracuse 7

Sean Tucker leads to tie

Sean Tucker continues to be the igniting force behind Syracuse’s offense.

After a 54-yard run in the first quarter, he added 39 rushing yards on a carry that set up Garrett Shrader’s two-yard quarterback keeper to tie the game with 5:33 left before halftime.

Justyn Ross drop and scare

Justyn Ross was taken to the medical tent after suffering what appeared to be an ankle injury with 4:17 left in the first quarter. On Clemson’s second drive, Ross dropped a pass from D.J. Uiagalelei and immediately fell to the turf. He limped off the field before getting checked out.

By the time the Tigers’ offense returned to the field at the 1:03 mark of the frame, Ross was back in the slot.

Neither team has scored yet.

Clemson down five players

Clemson will be without safety Joseph Charleston, cornerback Fred Davis, tight end Braden Galloway, wide receiver E.J. Williams and offensive lineman Hunter Rayburn against Syracuse on Friday night.

Charleston, whose injury hasn’t been disclosed, is missing a second consecutive game, while Davis is out for a third with a rolled ankle. Galloway exited the Tigers’ contest against Boston College two weeks ago and was put in concussion protocol.

While the reason is unknown, Rayburn’s absence leaves Matt Bockhorst as the potential starter at center, a position he filled for the first four games of the year. At the beginning of the year, Mason Trotter was also listed as a probably starter at center, but has been healing up from a hand injury.
