Christian’s friendship with WWE alum Eric Pankowski leads to AEW stars on ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Two cars full of AEW stars, including Christian Cage, will appear in the new season of Apple TV+’s “Carpool Karaoke: The Series,” which premieres on Friday.

Christian, a WWE alum, is friends with former WWE writer Eric Pankowski, who is an executive producer of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series.” They were the driving forces (pun intended) for having the stars of AEW on the show.

So, in Season 5, the AEW stars hit the road in Minneapolis, playing Mind Meld and tearing through a songbook from Pat Benatar to DMX.

Cage, a man of many talents, adds to his impressive resume with this latest in-car singing venture.

Maybe “American Idol,” “The Voice” or as he noted “Canadian Idol” is on his horizon.

An NHL fan, too, Cage resides in Tampa, home of the two-time defending NHL Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning. He grew up in Toronto and is a longtime Maple Leafs fan as well. They played each other in the first round of these playoffs, a win-loss round for the avid hockey aficionado. Now the Lightning is playing state rival (and Presidents’ Trophy winner) Florida Panthers in Round 2.

In the ring, Cage starred for WWE and Impact Wrestling, winning multiple titles. He formed an alliance with Edge, two lifelong Canadian friends living their dream.

Cage, 48, joined AEW on March 7, 2021.

Giving back, he is an associate and advisor to the AEW tag team champs Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus).
