In a battle of one-loss teams for the Missouri Class 6 championship in high school football, Liberty North had little answer for Christian Brothers College at Faurot Field Saturday afternoon in Columbia.

The Cadets scored early and often in the Show Me Bowl title game on the University of Missouri campus, beating Liberty North 48-21 to finish the season 13-1 and claim their fourth state championship since 2014.

The Cadets built a 14-0 lead early on a 63-yard run by Jeremiyah Love and Patrick Heitert’s touchdown pass to Ayden Robinson-Wayne.

The Eagles (11-2) got touchdowns from Sam Van Dyne and Freddie Levan (36-yard pass play in the first quarter), Cayden Arzola (8-yard run, third quarter) and Micah Jo Barnett (7-yard run, third quarter), but Liberty North hurt its own cause by turning over the ball four times in the first half.

Christian Brothers College led 31-7 at intermission.

In other classes, the weekend was all about the semifinals, with state championship games still to come next Thursday-Saturday.
