Chrissy Teigen reveals she's expecting baby with John Legend two years after pregnancy loss

Congratulations are in order for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who are expecting another baby.

The model and TV personality, 36, shared the personal news, along with two photos showing off her baby bump, on Instagram Wednesday, almost two years after she suffered a pregnancy loss.

"the last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again," Teigen wrote Wednesday. "1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way."

Teigen also opened up about the nervousness she's felt sharing the news of her pregnancy with the public.

"Every appointment I’ve said to myself, 'ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce' but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still," she continued. "I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!"

Teigen and Legend already share two children: Luna, 6, and Miles, 4. In September 2020, Teigen revealed she lost the child she was pregnant with, a baby boy she and Legend named Jack.

"I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive," Teigen wrote on Instagram at the time, along with emotional photos of her and Legend at the hospital. "We will always love you."

Teigen had announced she was pregnant in August 2020. Days before the couple lost their baby, Teigen was hospitalized for bleeding issues at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she kept her Instagram followers filled in on her condition throughout the week.

In the same year, Teigen wrote in an essay explaining that doctors diagnosed her with a partial placental abruption. At the time, she urged people to share their stories and “please be kind to those pouring their hearts out.”

By sharing her pregnancy loss with the public, Teigen said she aimed to inspire women in similar circumstances. According to the Office on Women's Health, pregnancy loss occurs in "as many as 10 to 15 percent of confirmed pregnancies."

"I'm happy to be the one to be able to yell loudly from the rooftops and talk about my uterus and talk about my everything," Teigen told USA TODAY in April 2021. "If that's going to make other women feel that they can do it, too, then I will be that person and I'm happy to do it."

Teigen has since been open about the healing process after she and Legend lost what would have been their second son.
