Chrissy Teigen Defends Meghan Markle From Critic Following Essay On Miscarriage
Chrissy Teigen has come our in support of Meghan Markle after the Duchess of Sussex revealed she had suffered a miscarriage earlier this year.
In a courageous and poignant essay written for the New York Times, published on Wednesday, Markle explained for the first time her experience and how she's dealing with grief.
Markle noted how, on one day in July, she had just changed the nappy of her one-year-old son, Archie, when she felt a ‘sharp cramp’.
‘I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,' she wrote. The revelation marked the first time the 38-year-old had spoken openly about her miscarriage.
In the hours that followed after the essay was published, many people came out to voice their support for the Duchess and her decision to publicly discuss such a personal issue.
One user on Twitter wrote: 'For a woman who has endured such hate & negativity to share such a raw vulnerability is an incredible act of courage. [sic]' Another added: 'Sharing this must have been very difficult for Meghan, but I applaud her for doing so. [sic]'
For a woman who has endured such hate & negativity to share such a raw vulnerability is an incredible act of courage.
Voicing these shared experiences throws light on the shadows of shame & lifts the weight of silence. #MeghanMarkle

Sharing this must have been very difficult for Meghan but I applaud her for doing so. We really have no idea what others are going through. Be sure to ask someone today if they’re ok. It could make a world of difference. #MeghanMarkle https://t.co/6kHDw04TBN

However, some criticised Markle's essay, including one social media user whose response to the news reportedly promoted an expert reply by Teigen.
The model recently opened up about her experience of losing her son, Jack, pre-term at 20 weeks.
'I definitely give myself permission to feel complete and utter grief. Every day is so different, so when people ask me how I’m doing, I always say, "I’m okay, today",' Teigen told Good Morning America earlier this week.
According to Just Jared, a user tweeted in response to Markle's news: 'Is anyone really questioning the pain and sheer awfulness of suffering a miscarriage, or are they perhaps criticising Meghan‘s decision to write a 1,000 word op-Ed about herself? [sic]'
The user added: 'What does it add to the resources already available for those who go through a tragedy like this? [sic]'
In response, a line from Teigen's now-deleted response, per the publication's reporting, reads: 'Congratulations, piece of s–t. [sic]'
After deleting her initial reaction, the mother-of-two added in a following tweet: 'Sorry forgot I’m trying to be nicer lol. [sic]'

The royal family have not commented publicly on the news.
Zara Phillips Tindall, Queen Elizabeth II's eldest granddaughter and Prince Harry's cousin, experienced two miscarriages, in 2016 and in 2018. The mother-of-two spoke about her grief in an interview with the Sunday Times in 2018, describing the trauma of losing two babies before giving birth to her second daughter, Lena.
