Chris Hemsworth may be best known for his blockbuster superhero role as Thor, but it turns out his children would much rather he took them swimming than save the world.

The Marvel star, who shares six-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha, and daughter India Rose, eight, with his wife Elsa Pataky, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of his son's latest creative writing project.

An excerpt of the note, penned by his son, reads: 'My special friend is dad, together we go in the pool, together they make me feel happy [sic].'

The note received a 'well done Tristan' comment from Tristan's teacher and a crying emoji along with the letter written out in full on his dad's post.

This isn't the first time the actor has given fans a glimpse into his special bond with his three children.

In November 2020, the Avengers star shared a hilarious video of him and his son as they played an rather unconventional game of golf. The 37-year-old captioned the post: 'Nothing like father and son bonding time'

In addition to sharing an insight into his life at home with his children and wife, Hemsworth has been publicly vocal about prioritising his children above his career.

In an interview for GQ Australia in 2018, the actor noted: 'There's times when I've thought, "Wow, because having kids is more important to me, some of my roles have suffered." There's definitely a couple of films I could've put way more energy into but I was like, "No, I'd rather be with my kids."'

Hemsworth and Pataky are believed to have met in early 2000 and married that December. The pair welcomed India Rose in 2012 and their twins, Tristan and Sasha, in 2014.

Last December, the couple celebrated their 10 year anniversary, with Hemsworth sharing photos of him and his wife on Instagram with the caption: '10 years together! Looking forward to the advancements of modern medicine and science and enjoying a couple hundred more! [sic]'
