Man in China sentenced to death for stabbing death of Japanese boy, Kyodo says
TOKYO/BEIJING (Reuters) -A Chinese court has sentenced a man to death over the fatal stabbing of a Japanese boy in the southern city of Shenzhen, Japan's Kyodo news agency said on Friday, citing Japanese ambassador to China, Kenji Kanasugi. The assailant, identified by Chinese authorities as a 44-year-old man surnamed Zhong, was formally arrested on Nov. 30 on suspicion of murder, Kyodo had reported. The attack took place on the anniversary of an incident in 1931 that triggered war between China and Japan, a sensitive date at a time when diplomatic relations are in danger of deteriorating.

Oil prices set to end week lower on Trump energy policies
LONDON - (Reuters) -Oil prices edged up on Friday but remained on track for a weekly decline after U.S. President Donald Trump announced sweeping plans to boost U.S. production and demanded that OPEC move to lower crude prices. Brent crude futures gained 25 cents, or 0.3%, to $78.54 a barrel by 1147 GMT while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) was up 22 cents, or 0.3%, at $74.84. Over the week Brent has lost nearly 3% while WTI is down close to 4%.
