Chipotle's cilantro soap sold out, but some Chipotle Rewards members can collect a cilantro badge

UPDATE: Chipotle's Cilantro Soap is sold out, according to the Chipotle Goods website. See below for the Chipotle Rewards deal that ends Dec. 8 for select loyalty members.

Chipotle’s latest product has cilantro in it, but you can't eat it and won't find it for sale at restaurants.

The fast-casual chain announced Thursday that it is selling “Cilantro Soap” for $8 a bar online at Chipotlegoods.com, while supplies last.

“Made with real ingredients, this 100% real soap bar is the perfect gift for cilantro lovers and haters alike,” according to the Chipotle Goods website. “Just make sure they don’t eat it.”

Chipotle hinted at the cilantro soap in August when it posted a mock package on Instagram, which garnered more than 22,500 likes. The chain says this inspired “the launch of the real soap to delight super fans and amplify the conversation.”

Chipotle said the fresh green herb is in many of its menu items and is one of the most debated ingredients among fans on social media.

In a news release about the soap launch, the chain said roughly 4 to 14% of the population is “genetically wired to experience a soapy flavor when they eat cilantro.”

Ingredients in the soap include "saponified organic oils (olive, coconut, flaxseed, shea), coriander essential oil, chlorella powder."

Chipotle also said the soap is available for holiday shopping along with new items in the restaurant-branded apparel line, which is dyed with upcycled avocado pits from restaurants. The Chipotle Goods line debuted in August 2020.

All profits from the Chipotle Goods collection go toward supporting organizations focused on making fashion or farming more sustainable, Chipotle said.
