Chingford fire: Woman dies after blaze rips through east London flat

An investigation has been launched after a woman died early today in a fire at a block of flats in east London.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus had rescued her from a ground-floor property on The Ridgeway, Chingford.

But she was pronounced dead at the scene.

London Fire Brigade said it was called at 11.45pm last night and the fire was under control at the three-storey block by 1.14am.

Four engines and around 25 firefighters from Chingford, Woodford and Enfield stations attended.

LFB said: “The cause of the fire is under investigation.”The Met said it was not thought to be suspicious at this time.
