Chile on alert as Villarrica volcano rumbles

STORY: The recent activity in southern Chile's Villarrica volcano has prompted the National Geology and Mining Service to issue a yellow alert.

Monitoring of the volcano’s activity showed no significant changes in gas emissions nor thermal anomalies, according to a statement issued by the service.

Historical data from the National Geology and Mining Service indicates the volcano’s last significant eruption took place in 2015.
