Chiefs’ Travis Kelce gets shout-out from The Rock for roasting Cincinnati’s mayor

You think someone in the Cincinnati mayor’s inner circle is looking for work these days?

Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval tweeted a video last week that was intended to poke fun at the Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Instead, it motivated the Chiefs, who beat the Bengals 23-20 in the AFC Championship Game.

During the Lamar Hunt Trophy presentation, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce called out the mayor in front of the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium crowd and a national television audience on CBS.

“Hey, I’ve got some wise words for that Cincinnati mayor,” Kelce said. “Know your role and shut your mouth, you Jabroni!”

You may ask yourself what is a Jabroni, and if so you’re not a pro wrestling fan. The Iron Shiek coined the word, as Bleacher Report noted, and The Rock made it so popular that it was added to Dictionary.com in 2020.

Dictionary.com described the word this way: “a stupid, foolish, or contemptible person; loser.”

One person who heard Kelce use the word Jabroni was The Rock himself, Dwayne Johnson. And The Rock approved of the Chiefs tight end’s method of roasting Pureval.

“My boy Trav out here cuttin’ Rock promos,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.

During an interview Tuesday n KCSP (610 AM), Mahomes was impressed with The Rock mentioning Kelce.

“How crazy is that? The Rock, I mean, that’s like a superstar of superstars, man,” Mahomes said. “So I can see Travis in that role one day. He might be someone that leaves football after hopefully another 5, 10 more years and he might be able to move into some sort of celebrity status like that.”
