The Chasers Road Trip has a funny similarity to Love Island

The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles aired its first episode tonight (January 21), following the quiz legends on a series of trips as they explore different places in their quest for knowledge.

Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace are the three Chasers who have embarked on this journey as they try to uncover the cognitive abilities of animals and artificial intelligence.

In tonight's episode, the Chasers headed to the USA to meet a bonobo ape named Kanzi who can communicate with humans using pictures and symbols. So, the trio competed with Kanzi in a memory game – all of the Chasers scored under 20 out of 30, while Kanzi beat them with an impressive 28.

The Chasers then went on a road trip across the country in a motorhome and Mark was left in charge of driving (which didn't go well). During their trip, they met a chimpanzee with a great memory, as well as a 25-year-old orangutan who enjoyed playing video games. The quizzers also got the opportunity to interact with dolphins.

Still, some viewers noticed a funny similarity between The Chasers Road Trip and Love Island as the Chasers 'got a text' telling them about each new activity they'd face on the show.

One person wrote: "Anne really bringing back the "I got a text" from Love Island. #chasersroadtrip"

"That bit where they get a message is like Love Island #chasersroadtrip," another viewer suggested.

Generally, people seemed to really enjoy the show.

The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles continues next Thursday (January 28) at 9pm on ITV.
