Charlize Theron Set For Villain Role In Fast & Furious 8?

Here’s a bit of a casting curveball… Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is reportedly circling the role of the villain in ‘Fast & Furious 8’.

Variety reports that the producers of the movie are 'eager’ to get the South African-born star involved in the forthcoming sequel.

Understandably so.

Theron proved beyond doubt her vehicle-based action chops in last year’s box office smash 'Mad Max: Fury Road’, in which she thoroughly upstaged Tom Hardy in the apparent lead role.

It was confirmed in October that the movie, the first of three more to come – taking the series to 10 films in all – is to be directed by F. Gary Grey, helmsman of 'Straight Outta Compton’.

Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and the last movie’s villain Jason Statham are all set to return for the eighth jaunt.

So far Universal has not commented on the Theron chatter.

She’s currently filming new spy thriller 'The Coldest City’, along with James McAvoy, about an undercover MI6 agent during the Cold War sent to Berlin to investigate the murder of a fellow agent.

Next up, we’ll see her in the spin-off 'The Huntsman: Winter’s War’, where she’ll be reprising her role as Ravenna from 'Snow White and the Huntsman’.

It’s due out on April 8.
