What could be better than rosé and a slushy mixed together? Charleston-based Co-Op Frosé and Eatery, a one-stop-shop that specializes in serving frosé and gourmet sandwiches, is coming to Charlotte’s South End neighborhood in July.

What is frosé? The alcoholic beverage is made by mixing together rosé and ice for an adults-only slushy.

The shop first opened in Charleston’s Sullivan’s Island in 2012 and has expanded to Isle of Palms and Kiawah Island in South Carolina, and Nashville and Chattanooga in Tennessee. The Charlotte location will be the shop’s first North Carolina location.

The Charleston locations were awarded several Charleston City Paper’s “Best Of” Awards in 2022, including Best Frozen Drinks, Best Sullivan’s Island Happy Hour and Best IOP Restaurant.

Some of the shop’s menu items vary by location. To get an idea of what we have to look forward to, here are some menu items at the restaurant’s other locations:

Sandwiches and salads

The shop offers gourmet sandwiches, including:

  • Cali Turkey Sandwich, made with turkey, bacon, avocado, sprouts, tomato and herb cream cheese on toasted wheat bread.

  • The Cowboy Chicken Sandwich, made with chicken, bacon, avocado, mixed greens and ranch on brioche.

  • The Veggie Sammie, made with herb cheese, tomato, cucumber, red onions, hummus, alfalfa sprouts, salt and pepper on sunflower multigrain bread.

The shop offers fresh salad staples, including:

  • The Greek salad, made with spinach, black olives, feta cheese, red onions, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts and balsamic vinaigrette. Chicken can be added for an upcharge.

  • The Cobb salad, made with romaine lettuce, chicken breast, hard boiled egg, bacon, tomato, avocado and bleu cheese with ranch dressing.

  • Caesar salad, made with chopped Romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese and sourdough herb croutons.

Coffee and breakfast

Breakfast options include:

  • Whipped Ricotta Toast, made with whipped ricotta, local honey, salt and pepper on toasted multigrain bread

  • SEC, made with two fried eggs, sausage and cheddar cheese on a Kaiser roll.

  • Breakfast Burrito, made with bacon, eggs, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, hummus and hot sauce in a flour tortilla.

  • Heart Healthy, made with two fried eggs, hummus, cheddar and spinach on wheat bread.

  • The Classic Egg, made with two fried eggs and cheddar cheese on a Kaiser roll.

Hot and cold brew coffees are also on the menu.

Kids’ menu

There are several $4 kids’ meals are on the menu, including:

  • The Kid’s Co-Op, a full hickory ham or turkey sandwich with cheese served on white bread.

  • The PB+J, a full sandwich with peanut butter and grape jelly served on white bread.

  • The Grilled Cheese, a full sandwich with American cheese served on white bread.

“We foresee a lot of frosé and laid-back beach vibes in the Queen City’s future,” owner Jess Patterson said in a statement.

The shop will be on West Tremont Avenue next to High-Wire Brewing and fitness facility Spenga. More opening details will be posted on the restaurant’s Instagram.
