Chaotic Scenes as Police Use Pepper Spray Outside Champions League Final

The UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid in Paris was delayed by more than 30 minutes on Saturday, May 28, amid chaotic scenes outside the Stade de France.

Travelling fan Michael Carter posted two videos on Twitter, one showing a distressed child feeling the effects of an irritant used by police, and another showing a medical team assisting a person on the floor while police drag another man by his feet along the ground.

Liverpool FC have requested a formal investigation into the stadium entry issues.

“This is the greatest match in European football and supporters should not have to experience the scenes we have witnessed tonight,” the club’s official statement read.

Carter told Storyful the officials and policing were a “thousand times worse than anything” he had seen before.
