Channing Tatum Says He Would 'Cut His Arms Off' to Get George Clooney in 'Magic Mike 3'

It’s a meeting of cross-generational beefcakes as Channing Tatum and George Clooney combine forces in Hail, Caesar!, a new comedy from the Coen brothers that sends up the studio system in 1950s Hollywood. Both play actors in the film: Clooney a marquee swashbuckler starring in the titular Roman epic, and Tatum a tap-dancing musical man who performs a sailor-themed song-and-dance number in a riff on On the Town.

It might not be their only collaboration. While the actors were paired at this past weekend’s L.A. press day for Hail, Caesar!, we asked Tatum, 35, if he was angling to cast Clooney, 54, in the inevitable next installment of his popular male-stripper series, Magic Mike.

“I would probably cut my arms off to have you [in Magic Mike],” Tatum told a chucking Clooney (watch above). “I would love to design a dance for you. I would get so excited. I wouldn’t even know where to start.”

To which Clooney replied: “Oh, I would bust it, man. It would be something to see. You think I wouldn’t get some dollars thrown?”

Odds are Clooney is joking, but a striptease from the Oscar winner (or at least a cameo) isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibility. Future Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey said “all right, all right, all right” to the original Magic Mike in 2012, while last year’s follow-up Magic Mike XXL added all kinds of additional star power with small roles from Elizabeth Banks, Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Donald Glover, and Michael Strahan.

And even if Clooney doesn’t join the Magic Mike 3 festivities, he’s at least offered up his Caesar co-star a solid title for the sequel. His suggestion: Magic Mike: Take It To the Limit.

Hail, Caesar! opens Feb. 5. No word yet on when Magic Mike: Take It to the Limit will hit theaters.
