I’ve always been a little skeptical about CBD products. Some have worked for me, but many have not. However, I recently tried Antedotum’s CBD skin care and I’m definitely into it. Specifically, the brand’s Rescue Body Balm has become an everyday favorite for soothing tired muscles, feeling more relaxed and making my skin feel super soft.

Antedotum’s Rescue Body Balm contains 1000 milligrams of broad-spectrum CBD. I’ve been using it at night to soothe the muscles around my neck and shoulders before bed. After sitting at a desk all day typing for work, I realized I tend to hunch my shoulders, and this balm feels like a quick spa treatment at the end of the day.

In addition to CBD, the balm also contains Aspen bark, vitamin E, squalane and neroli, rosemary and lavender essential oils, all of which makes your skin feel buttery smooth. It feels almost cooling and almost tingly when applied, but it’s not as strong as something like IcyHot. This is more of a luxurious body balm that smells great and has a super smooth finish.

I know, CBD feels like a buzzword these days — it’s everywhere. Now more than ever, you can find CBD lotions, oils, cream, balms and more for helping calm inflamed skin.

Unfortunately, there haven’t been a ton of studies on how cannabidiol (CBD) affects the skin. However, one small 2019 study conducted by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia Medical School in Italy found that that there are some real benefits. Researchers topically applied CBD to a group of 20 individuals, some with atopic dermatitis, some with psoriasis and others with scars. They found that applying CBD to skin “is a safe and effective non-invasive alternative for improving the quality of life in patients with some skin disorders, especially on inflammatory backgrounds.”

That said, many people in the skin care industry swear by CBD for helping with inflammation and improving acne.

After receiving a sample from the brand, I’ve been using Antedotum’s Vital Face Oil as well. I have a very small case of rosacea that flares up when I go out in the cold winter weather, and this oil brings the redness down. Plus, it makes my skin look and feel more hydrated. As someone with sensitive acne-prone skin, I was nervous to try it, but I have zero complaints. If anything, I’ve had fewer breakouts since using it.
