Cardi B cancels concerts to recover from plastic surgery

Rapper Cardi B has canceled several shows to focus on her health after recently going under the knife for cosmetic procedures.

“Cardi was overzealous in getting back to work; she didn’t take the time necessary to fully recover from her surgery," Cardi's representative told People and E! News. “Her strenuous schedule has taken a toll on her body and she has been given strict doctor’s orders to pull out of the rest of her performances in May."

The 26-year-old rapper canceled her Tuesday show in El Paso, Texas, citing "circumstances beyond her control," as well as her appearance at the 92Q Spring Bling festival in Baltimore on Saturday. According to Ticketmaster, the next Cardi show for which tickets are available is in June in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Cardi recently spoke about having liposuction and a breast augmentation after the birth of her daughter, Kulture, last summer.

Cardi B has a message for moms: 'Stop leaving your kids with ya boyfriends! PERIOD.'

Performing at the Beale Street Music Festival this month, she told the crowd, "I have some news for y'all."I should have canceled today... I shouldn't really be performing because moving too much is gonna (expletive) up my lipo. But (expletive) I'm still gonna get my (expletive) money back, let's go."

Cardi also told her Instagram followers on May 1 that she "just got my boobs redone."

Why?

“I feel good, but then sometimes I feel like not, you know?" she said, per People and E! News. "(When) your skin is stretched out. Yes, my daughter (expletive) me up. She did. She so did.”

At an event celebrating the launch of her Fashion Nova collection on May 9, Cardi told E! that she came clean about her plastic surgery because she "doesn't like lying about things."

That includes the reality of the aftermath of plastic surgery.

"Like when you see somebody that had lipo you think that they just go into the doctor's and like boop, you come out and you look amazing, but it's actually like a very long process, recovery," she said. "It actually takes like a little bit more than three or four months...The stages (are) very frustrating. Sometimes it get(s) a little bit discouraging."

USA TODAY has contacted Cardi's representatives for comment.
