Full House premiered on this day in 1987, and Candace Cameron Bure is celebrating the occasion with a look back.

The actress known for playing eldest daughter D.J. Tanner on the popular ABC sitcom and the Netflix sequel series Fuller House posted a photo on social media Friday of herself in a wedding dress with her hands raised high in a celebratory pose.

"Flashback to finding the DJ wedding dress," she wrote. "Today also marks 36 years since becoming DJ Tanner, what a ride! So blessed!"

In a post on her Instagram story, Bure, 47, added, "I love reading through all your comments and how much Full/Fuller House has meant to you over the years. Happy 36 years to DJ TANNER!!"

Bure began her career as a child actor in the early '80s, appearing on shows like St. Elsewhere, Punky Brewster, and T.J. Hooker before making her big-screen debut in 1987's Some Kind of Wonderful. That same year, she began her eight-season run on Full House, with castmates including Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, and twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Much of the gang returned for Fuller House, in which a grown-up D.J. raised three kids of her own. The revival ran for five seasons, from 2016 to 2020.

Bure recently made headlines when her lifelong friend Danica McKellar revealed that as teenagers, the two actresses found themselves in an awkward love triangle with Growing Pains star Jeremy Miller.

Last year, Bure became the chief content officer for the entertainment conglomerate Great American Media, which has received criticism for its lack of LGBTQ programming.
