Cameron Diaz explains why she isn't attracted to husband Benji Madden's twin brother

Cameron Diaz is reflecting on her romance with husband Benji Madden.

The "Charlie's Angels" actress revealed during her appearance on the "Anna Faris is Unqualified" podcast Monday that she met her husband for the first time through his twin brother, Joel Madden and wife, Nicole Richie.

"I met mine through my now sister-in-law and brother-in-law. I met them first and then they didn't set us up but we were in the same room because of them, and then we found each other," she explained.

Diaz said her initial reaction was, "'How come I didn't see him before?'" In response, her business partner and fellow guest on the podcast quipped, "which is funny because you saw his twin brother."

"They're not the same, they're so different," Diaz said about the Madden brothers. "Even though they're twins, they're very, very different obviously."

She continued to recall their first encounter that solidified her interest in Madden.

"I saw him walking towards me and I was like, 'Huh, he's hot, I haven't seen him before.' But then when I saw him, like who he was, that's what made me really be like, 'Oh you, you're special, you're the guy, you're the hidden gem in my life.'"

Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden: Cameron Diaz reveals why she waited to marry

Diaz married Madden in 2015. In 2017, she addressed why she decided to get married later in life at age 41 during Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop health and wellness conference.

"I think it's a matter of – I just hadn’t met my husband, you know? I had boyfriends before. And there’s a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends. And I have a husband who is … just my partner in life and in everything," she said at the time. "Talk about two very different people, we are so different from one another but we share the same values … we’re totally two peas in a pod. We’re both just weird enough for each other."

"We women are objectified so much," she continued. "And somehow my husband has just been able to kind of show me what it’s like not to have that be a part of a relationship, and being an equal."

Diaz added that Benji supports her ambitions equally. "I never experienced that before. I’d never been loved in that way," she said. "Where he and Joel came from and what they've accomplished in their lives … just the drive, for the purest reasons. They push themselves. I look at him every day and he inspires me. He works so hard. I feel so lucky."

In January, the actress surprised fans when she announced she and Madden welcomed a baby girl named Raddix.

"Happy New Year from the Maddens! We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden," Diaz wrote in her Instagram post at the time. "She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family."

Raddix is both Diaz and Madden's first child.
